Painting a portrait always brings me back to the fundamentals of painting. Some artists say they don’t have time to paint in the classical style. I don’t believe that, it’s not the time one spends on a painting that makes for a good portrait it’s what you put into it that counts. I just love to give everything to create a painting so special it will be treasured for every.
Portraits can take approximately two months to complete from booking to framing.
Currently I offer reasonably priced portraits* for which I include in my portfolio. A sitting should normally take less than one hour, depending on the complexity of the sitting. My commissioning process starts with a consultation over the phone or if in the North Yorkshire area I will be happy to meet in your office or home. During this consultation I will take your considerations into account and plan the portrait. A sitting would normally take less than 60 minutes where I will take a series of photographs and sketches.
Expect to pay upwards of £750 for a head and shoulders in oil on canvas. Half and three quarter length portrait range from £800 to £15,000, with full length work, group portrait included, costing between £4,000 and £35,000.
