The Drummer Boy commissioned work by the Zetland Lifeboat and Redcar Heritage Museum.
61×91.5 cm Acrylic on canvas
The “Drummer Boy” tells of the lifeboats final rescue in October 1880 when the crew of the Zetland Lifeboat saved 7 lives from the sailing brigg Luna after it crashed through the Redcar Pier. The painting is the second by artist Philip J. Boville commissioned by the museum in three years. Both paintings in acrylic on canvas depict events from the records of the world’s oldest existing lifeboat.
The painting is due to feature in the opening of the museums new season.
